At the instance of His Excellency the Governor of Jammu and Kashmir State, who is also the Chancellor of the Universities of Jammu and Kashmir, the office of the Coordinator Post-Graduate Programme of Kashmir University was setup during 1991-92 at the University of Jammu for running the Post-Graduate Programme of Kashmir University for migrant students.On recommendations of the Vice-Chancellor University of Jammu, His Excellency was kind enough to authorize admission of migrant students to M.A., M.Sc., M.Com. including LL.B. and B.Lib.courses.
It is through the teaching faculty and the available infrastructure in the University of Jammu these courses are being managed. However, the State Government has made provision of special grants to meet the additional needs such as, library, laboratories and honorarium to be paid to the concerned teachers. This Programme takes care of the admissions of migrant students through entrance test, their enrolments in the departments, monitoring of courses, conduct of their examination, etc. Wherever required study tours and field tours are supported through this programme.
Presently 18 classes of the post-graduate courses are running in the teaching departments of the University of Jammu which are as per Kashmir University Schedule/Syllabi.
