Sexual harassment at work is an unwelcome or
uninvited or inappropriate promise of rewards in exchange for
sexual favors, or any behavior of sexual nature, which is offensive,
embarrassing, intimidating and effects
an employee’s work performance, health, career or livelihood.
Such conduct seriously undermines the atmosphere of trust and
respect that is essential to a healthy work and academic
environment. As
per Supreme Court rulings it is the duty of the employer or
other responsible persons in work places to prevent or deter the
Commission of acts of sexual harassment and to provide the
procedure for the resolution, settlement or prosecution of acts
of sexual harassment by taking all steps required. University of
Jammu, through its policies and procedures, seeks to provide an
environment that is free from sexual harassment and sexual
assault. All
members of the University are encouraged to report promptly
complaints about sexual harassment, sexual misconduct, and
sexual assault to the sexual harassment committee members of the
University of Jammu. Persons found to be in violation of this
policy shall be subject to disciplinary action as per the
Supreme Court rulings. For any query/ information, please
