The Law School
  • 5th Annual Justice Bodh Raj Sawhny Memorial Oration 2004 was organized in The Law School on 18th Dec. 2004. It was delivered by Sh. Soli Sorabjee, Former Attorney General of India on "Public Interest Litigation: Boon or Bane".Justice A.S Anand , Chairman HRC was also present on the occasion.
  • The Law School also organized 28th All India Criminology Conference in Feb. 2005 in collaboration with Dept. of Law, University of Jammu and National Service Scheme, University of Jammu.
  • A Three day Legal Work shop was organized by the Law School 22nd to 24th of November 2005. In this workshop various lawyers and Judges of the High Court participated and interacted with the students on various aspects of Legal Drafting and Pleading. 
  • The 2nd day of the workshop was devoted to International Humanitarian Law. which was organized in collaboration with ICRC. Justice Parmod Kohli, Judge of J&K high Court delivered the Inaugural address wherein he discussed various aspects of International Humanitarian Law. Mr Michel O' Brien communication Coordinator ICRC highlighted the objectives of the ICRC and its role in Humanitarian activities. Ms. Regula Hafner, Incharge ICRC Jammu Province explained about the ICRC with reference to J&K. Mr Larry Maybe Regional Legal Advisor (ICRC) New Delhi delivered two lectures on international Humanitarian law- on overview and Humanitarian law, Human Rights and Non-International Armed conflicts. 
  • One Day symposium was organized on 10th of Dec. 2005 to celebrate International Human Rights Day. In this connection a lecture was also delivered by Justice R.P Sethi Chairman J&k state accountability commission. 
  • All India Justice Bodh Raj Sawhney Memorial Debating Contest was held on 10th of March 2006. Many student from the neighboring states participated in the debate titled In the opinion of the house:"Law Is an instrument of social change." Dept. of Law Aligarh Muslim University bagged the trophy by securing Ist, IInd position. 3rd position was bagged by Ms. Jyotika Sethi of The Law Schol, University of Jammu. Ther were two consilation prizes also which were bagged by Farha Bashir of the Law School and Surekha Bhatt of Dogra Law College, Jammu. Justice R.P Sethi who was the Chief Guest at the Prize distribution ceremony also delivered a lecture on the same topic. 
  • Sir Igor Judge, President Queens Bench in England delivered an extension lecture to the Law School Students on sentence statements through Video conferencing on 6th of March 2006.
  • The Law School will also start Diploma Course in Human Rights and Education. The Statutes and Syllabi of the same have already been finalized.
