The Department was established in
1973 to Cater to the needs of Post-graduation in the
Teacher Education. But after in 1978, two year degree
programme (M.A.) in Education was also initiated to
meet the requirements of the staff needed to teach
in senior secondary classes. It may be mentioned that
education is the most popular discipline in senior
secondary as well as in College classes of J&K.
It may be one of the reasons that most of the human
products of Deptt. are employed and are well placed.
With the recent opening of large number of Colleges
of Education in J&K it has further enhanced the
job employability of students doing masters in Education.
