Established in 1988

The mission of the department stands as overcoming underdevelopment and empowering individuals for societal excellence. The discipline of Home Science integrates the application of knowledge synthesized from different sciences and humanities to improve human ecology. Human Development, clothing and Textiles, Community resource management, extension education, Food & Nutrition are the five branches of Home Science. At present the department of Home Science, Jammu University offers Master and Research programme in Human Development only. Main aim of setting up of this department is to familiarize the students about both foundations and advances in human development, study of behaviour , organization and management of early childhood care &welfare institutions. The department equips the student with skill to pursue research and extend their knowledge to the field through seminars/workshops/ conferences, field visits and extension activities.
