- A 'Corruption Perception Survey of Jammu City'
in collaboration with Citizens' Commission for National
Issues (CCNI), New Delhi was conducted by the department
in March, 2002.
- A Socio-Economic survey of the villages affected

collaboration with Department of Botany, funded

Activities :-

The deptt. has a provision of field tour for
familiarizing the students with the field techniques
related to social research. The field tour is
conducted with an objective of comparative study
of different cultures.

Keeping the aspirations of society the department
extends its expertise in terms of research. It
also orients the students for the competitive
market. The department invites guest faculty regularly
and also conducts seminars and conferences.

Department follow cafeteria approach of education
in the courses on Research Methods, Human Rights,
Ecology and Crime & Society which are being
shared by teachers from Political Science., Law
and Environmental Science of the University
