About the Department :-

Established in 1999

The Department of Sociology was established in the year 1999 under the aegis the Faculty of Behavioural Sciences, University of Jammu, Jammu. The Department was set up as an interdisciplinary centre of higher learning and academic excellence. The Department offers Post Graduate Programme through semester system. The department has also initiated M.Phil and Ph.D. programme in the year 2002. Many students of Department have cleared NET/SLET and have been absorbed in various teaching departments as well as other government and research oriented non government jobs. The Department would continue to cater to the academic and professional needs of students.
