The Department of Zoology came into
existence in the year 1998 as a result of the split
of the erstwhile Department for Bio-Sciences which
was established in late 1971 and which has now been
raised to the faculty of Life-Sciences which comprises
of Botany, Zoology, Environmental Sciences and Bio-Technology.
The Department of Zoology has 12 teaching, faculty members who are actively engaged in their respective field of research specializations. The thrust area of research includes Animal and Human Cytogenetics, Fisheries, Entomology, Limnology and Wildlife. The Department conducts M. Sc., M. Phil. and Ph. D. programmes in Zoology.
